My Heart

My heart was once shattered
and scattered
All over the South Bay
Sadly, I was okay
I accepted that my heart was
decimated and obliterated
I’m pretty sure my heart died
Flat-lined
I walked around empty and hollow
Not really looking forward to
tomorrow
Then came you
and suddenly my heart went from
black to blue
purple, turquoise
yellow in its hue
My heart beats again
It pumps blood
Red
I’m alive and back from
the dead
By God’s grace I’ll take your hand and venture out to uncharted land
I’ll close my eyes and sleep next to you
Pray for you
Write for you
Save myself for you
Belong only to you
The sun shines against my teeth
The moon glows in my eyes
The stars sparkle like my ring
